Talent Is Not In-Born

In 1991, the first and only Suzuki Talent Education Centre in Singapore was officially opened by the late Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the Talent Education Institute based in Matsumoto City, Japan. Started with a team of 11 violin teachers personally trained by Dr. Suzuki himself, the Centre now has more than 500 children studying cello, violin, piano and other musical instruments based on the Suzuki method.

The Suzuki method is one of the most acclaimed music teaching methods in the world. It is based on Dr. Suzuki’s observation that children everywhere in the world possess the natural ability to master their own language. He called this the ‘Mother Tongue’ approach which he adopted to teach violin to children. Today, the Suzuki Method has benefited more than half a million children in Europe, U.S.A., Asia-Pacific and Japan.

In Singapore, we offer the Suzuki piano and violin programmes for children aged 3 and above.

The Centre annually prepares students for the Suzuki performance assessment with regular performances in concerts. Students are also encouraged to participate in the Asia Pacific Suzuki Conference which helps them to gain invaluable experience with their counterparts from other countries.
